We encourage students to use our site for research projects. Please read over our suggestions to help make your project best in its class.
Here are some hints to help you get started on your research.
- Our site has many unique historical documents that are not found anywhere else on the Internet. But they won't make a lot of sense unless you have some knowledge of the women's liberation of the 1970's.
- Do your homework. Find out some basic information about the women's liberation movement of the 1970's. There are plenty of reference materials that will give you a general overview both online and in libraries.
- Read our Feminist FAQ below. Infogal, our friendly hardworking site coordinator, has assembled a list of commonly asked questions and then answered them. Remember, this is one feminist's view. Feminists are very diverse and there is often disagreement on issues.
- Our site is divided into sections. Most of the history is found in the Historical Archive section. You will find personal stories in the Memoirs and Biographies section . There is art and music in the Art and Culture section and some histories of the CWLU's various art projects. Finally in our Special Feature , you'll find the story of Jane, the underground abortion service
- Write down the URL's (web addresses), titles and authors of your sources. Your teacher will want to know where your information came from.
- Teachers have different requirements for things like footnotes and bibilographies. Make sure you understand how your teacher wants you to them.
- You are free to print out pages from our site if you wish. You may also use photos and graphics from our site to decorate your project. Please remember to say where these photos and graphics came from.
- Be original. It's ok to quote from sources our site, but your words and ideas are important too.
- Please share your project with us. We would love to post it here for others to learn from. E-mail us at infogal@cwluherstory.org.
