Memoirs and Biographies

Memoirs The women's liberation movement soon realized that the personal is political. Women challenging the culture of patriarchy came to understand that how they lived their personal lives was deeply intertwined with their political lives as well.

Through consciousness raising groups organized by the CWLU, women shared their life stories and learned how complex and profound this interrelationship is.

What follow are real life stories from former CWLU members and friends. Some of these memoirs are highly personal and we share them in spirit of the original consciousness raising groups.

We have divided our memoirs and biographies into three sections based on how they are presented.
